A magnificent concert featuring Australia’s outstanding chamber music ensemble, PLEXUS, in an exciting collaboration with the RMP Choir.
Featuring the world premiere of Stefan Cassomenos’ new major work for choir, soloists and ensemble, Requiem for the End of Time.
PLEXUS joins forces with a host of glorious voices, and two esteemed guest chamber musicians, to embark on a deep exploration of the themes of death, transfiguration, redemption and revelation. We begin with the world premiere of Three Songs for the Lord by acclaimed Argentinian Berlin-based composer José Hernán Cibils, featuring the superb contralto voice of Liane Keegan, followed by a world premiere arrangement of the deeply moving Four Last Songs of Richard Strauss, performed by the stunning soprano Deborah Cheetham. The programme culminates in another world premiere, Requiem for the End of Time by Stefan Cassomenos, featuring soloists Liane Keegan, Deborah Cheetham, and rising star Daniel Carison (baritone), alongside the entire Royal Melbourne Philharmonic Choir, in an epic setting of the requiem mass.
