The 2013 Festival Choir perform Vivaldi’s Gloria at Deakin Edge

Sing Your Own Oratorio. Here’s your chance to join the RMP choir and Orchestra for a day!

7pm Evening Performance.

This year, as part of the 2014 RMP “Sing Your Own Oratorio” event, you can join four outstanding soloists, along with over 150 members of the RMP Oratorio Festival Choir, the Royal Melbourne Philharmonic  Orchestra and their award-winning conductor Andrew Wailes, for a full-scale performance of  Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart’s powerful and enigmatic Requiem.

A work which captures all the pathos, anger  and quiet beauty that a genius like Mozart was capable of, even though unfinished at the time of his premature death, it was written by a young man aware that he was nearing his own life’s end.

Over 150 voices of the RMP Oratorio Festival Choir will perform this great work, along with the Royal Melbourne Philharmonic Orchestra and an outstanding cast of Australian soloists (all previous finalists of the RMP Aria)

To this day the work stands as a last great testament to one of the world’s greatest composers, and provides performers and audiences alike with an emotional and  powerful musical experience.

Enthusiastic and experienced members of the public, including choristers from all over Victoria are welcome to join the RMP for a day to sing this great work. The Requiem will be rehearsed and workshopped in the afternoon and then the work will be performed as the finale to the 2014 RMP Aria Final in the magnificent Deakin Edge, Federation Square.

Admission includes a bound score, afternoon tea and coffee, a three and a four hour choral workshop, as well as entry to the RMP Aria Final, a free champagne reception following the concert, and best of all – a chance to actually perform alongside members of the RMP Choir and Orchestra in the wonderful Deakin Edge.
