On Melbourne Cup Day Evening (Tuesday 7 November) the RMP will again host a public fundraiser / social event at the RMP Drill Hall from 6.30pm, a “Cup day Classical Cabaret”. The inaugural event was held in 2014 as an important fundraising event for the RMP, following the loss of all funding from the City of Melbourne in the 2014 round of triennial arts funding. It quickly sold out, was held again in 2015, and last year was also a great success and sold out.
Friends, families, audience, fellow musicians, and members of the wider community have the chance to show their support of the RMP by joining members of the RMP Choir and Orchestra for a relaxed, informal social gathering and musical celebration.
Tickets include fine wines and gourmet cheeses, fruit platters and delicious nibbles, tea coffee, pastries and light refreshments as well as wonderful entertainment provided by some of Australia’s finest opera, instrumental and chamber musicians.
Maestro Andrew Wailes has again assembled an extraordinary line up of talent for the 2017 event who will thrill and entertain as they perform throughout the evening. Performers this year include sensational Australian soprano Greta Bradman, leading operatic contralto Liane Keegan, Australia’s finest chamber music ensemble PLEXUS, pianist Stefan Cassomenos, virtuosic violinist Monica Curro, sublime clarinettist Philip Arkinstall, and jazz pianist Adam Cook back by popular demand!
