As you are aware, the world is currently facing the challenge of a global pandemic.
The wellbeing of our members, staff, fellow musicians, and the wider community is of paramount importance to us.
As a consequence of recent developments in the fight against the COVID-19 Virus pandemic, all RMP rehearsals and events are now suspended, effective immediately, until at least October 28. This includes all previously advertised Events including Australian Citizenship Ceremonies .
All members will be contacted if this period needs to be extended upon the advice of the Government, and the relevant Health Officials.
Please find HERE an important document relating to the COVID-19 Virus. It outlines ways to prevent the spread of the virus, and special measures the RMP was taking to minimise risk to its members at this difficult time.
This document was prepared by the RMP in consultation with medical experts, and Government information agencies at the outset of the health emergency as of 15 March, 2020. Please read this document and monitor the media and RMP communications for further information or updates regarding future disruptions to, or recommencement of regular RMP activities.
The wellbeing of our members and the wider community is of paramount importance to us.
As Australia’s oldest performing arts organisation, the RMP are committed to ensuring the longevity and sustainability of the organisation, and will continue to support its members, staff, musicians and supporters through this uncertain period.
Regarding future RMP performances, we are currently monitoring the situation, and no final arrangements will be able to be confirmed until we have been able to consult with venue management, government officials and the like. Many venues have been forced to temporarily close or suspend operations due to this medical emergency, however arrangements beyond June are unclear at this stage.
This next period is going to be a challenge for us all, but as the venerable RMP has previously demonstrated throughout its 167 year history (through similar global pandemics, world wars and depressions), there is always a way forward and things will eventually get better. In the meantime we will endeavour to find ways to cope as best we can with the challenges presented.
We ask for your patience, co-operation and support at this stressful and very difficult time.
The committee will provide members and audience with regular updates as information changes or becomes available.
